Chanel Atkinson
MA, LPC, NCC

I am a firm believer of meeting people where they are in life. My therapeutic process focuses on working collaboratively to address issues and find solutions that work best for the individual. My goal is to establish a safe relationship, instill hope, and empower individuals by emphasizing the power of doing what is in their control.

Chanel received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of North Texas and her Master’s degree in Counseling from Southern Methodist University. Chanel served as the Assistant Director of Clinical Services in a partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient program. Here she gained knowledge and expertise in crisis management and stabilization, self injurious behaviors, trauma, and chemical dependency. Prior to becoming a therapist, Chanel worked as an ABA technician working closely with those who fall on the spectrum.

Currently, Chanel specializes in working with adolescents, teens, and adults struggling with anxiety, depression, self esteem and identity, mood disorders, life transitions, and crisis management . She also has specialized training in working with those in the LGBTQIA+ community. Chanel strives to help others find their voice in order to advocate for real change by challenging negative thinking and increasing self-compassion. Chanel accomplishes this by continuing to take a client centered, holistic approach when working with individuals using techniques such as cognitive behavior therapy, reality therapy, and solution focused therapy.
